My iOS 7 update is awesome, but when I plugged into my projector this morning, it wouldn't mirror.  Suggestions? Ideas?

iphone 5 Adapter Issues

While driving yesterday I ran into a problem using my iPhone 5 in my car to listen to music.

 

While plugged into my car using an iPhone 30 pin cable with the adapter my iPhone 5 shows that it is charging, but will not play music anymore.  Previously using this set up it both charged and played music.

Later at home, trying to play music through an speaker with a a 30 pin dock and the adapter it again shows that the phone is charging but will not play music.  I have tried blowing on the connector and the in the phone to clear any debris.  Music plays through the phone itself fine, and through headphones, but not through the adapter (however, as stated it charges).

 

I've tried everything I can think of short of hooking it back up to my computer for a fresh install of ios.

 

Any suggestions before I try that?

Will the iPhone adapter work with the VW in car dock? I tried a cheap one but it only seemed to charge it and wouldn't play any audio. I don't really want to spend £25.00 on a new adapter to find out that it doesn't work. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Will 12v dock w/lightning adapter charge iP5?

I have an older ipod dock that hooks up to my car stereo with audio and charging capability. It won't charge a iPhone 4 or 4S because it uses the old 12v firewire wiring/charging. If I purchase something called a Scosche Passport or a generic 12v to 5v adapter that should fix the problem. However, I just purchased an iPhone 5 and was wondering if I still need a 12v to 5v adapter in addition to a new 30pin to lightning adapter. I was wondering if the new 30 Pin to Lightning would convert the old 12v firewire to work with lightning. If so, I wouldn't need yet another accessory to make things work.

 

Please let me know if anyone has an answer for me. Worst case scenario: I go to Target and buy a 30-L Adapter and then return it.

Something is different between these 2 adapters.  I tried swapping between both adapters about 30-40 times trying to figure it out.  Assumed it was user error for the first 10-15 times, but now I'm convinced there is something different between the small 30-pin/Lightning adapter and the 0.2m cable version of the "same". 

 

I hope as more people get there's and test it, we'll figure this out.  If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.  If you are still deciding or waiting, just be aware, that at least one person (me) is having these 2 adapters behave differently with the same exact accessory.
