Connect to iTunes without restoring my iPhone

So I got a new iphone 5 because my old 5 had a dust problem in the camera, so when I got the new one, I just set it up on the phone, not connecting it to itunes and I have used the phone for a good while now, but now I want to add my music to the iphone, music I have on my macbook. Now when I connect my iphone to my mac, itunes want be to either restor my phone as a new phone or from an old (very old) backup - and I want to do neither of them, I just want to put my content on my mac on my phone. My mac I authorised with the same Apple ID as my phone is.

Would be wonderfull to be able to listen to my music on the go again

I have a friend who has given me their TMobile UK iPhone 5, after I destroyed mine.

 

I cannot get it unlocked to use in the states so I am selling it.

 

I want to find out how many GB it has. I don't have a sim card for it. It looks like the roadblock is not having one.

 

Is there a way for me to run a diagnostic on it without having a sim card to determine how many gb it has?

So my iPhone 5 has always been synced with my sister's computer and her music library. My itunes library on my PC only has very few songs that I now want to put on my phone. I have read tutroials that tell me to go under the 'Summary' tab and select 'manually manage music and videos', then 'apply'
