Hi My Laptop will recongize mt camera on my iphone my not itunes?

hi, i bought an iphone 5 a few mths ago, never synced wioth laptop till today and it will sync my camera of my iphone but not the phoone its self, i have done everything i can think of to get this working nothing is happening can anyone help please?
